Tri-Chandra win

KATHMANDU: Tri-Chandra College defeated hosts Padma Kanya (PK) Campus ‘Blue’ 25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 25-21 in the final of the third Valleywide Inter-campus Professors’ Volleyball Tournament here on Friday. This is Tri-Chandra’s third victory in as many tournaments. Pasang Sherpa of Tri-Chandra was declared the man of the series, while Loknath Duwal of PK was named the man of the match and Jana Prasasan Campus the disciplined team. Tribhuvan University Registrar Prof Dr Bhim Raj Adhikari, PK Campus Chief Iren Sherstha and President of Nepal Volleyball Association Ganga Bahadur Thapa gave away prizes to the winners of the 12-team tournament. — HNS

Giri to go to HK

KATHMANDU: Vice President of Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (Nepal ITF) and senior coach Chetan Raj Giri is on Saturday leaving for Hong Kong to take part in the ITF meeting to be held from July 26-28. Giri is also scheduled to meet the Hong Kong ITF officials during his stay, informed the Nepal ITF President Krishna Bahadur Balal. — HNS

Five test positive

KINGSTOWN: Five Jamaican athletes have fallen foul of anti-doping tests carried out in the Caribbean country, the Jamaica Observer said on Friday. Those testing positive are all sprinters including two members of the men’s 4x100m relay team, two in the 4x400 and a female 4x100m relay runner, the newspaper said. They were among 46 athletes tested during Jamaica’s national selection event at the end of last month. Both the Jamaican national athletics federation and the country’s anti-doping agency refused to confirm or deny the report when contacted. — AFP
