Inzamam to use Hafeez

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said his bowlers have a throwing problem but he won’t stop using suspected spinner Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez was reported during the tri-series win over West Indies on Wednesday. Inzamam, though, didn’t believe his team was being targeted by umpires, conceding they had a problem. — AP

BCCI picks venues

MUMBAI:

Cricket authorities included Ahemdabad as a Test venue for Pakistan’s upcoming tour. Apart from Ahemdabad, which will host one of the three Tests during Pakistan’s first tour of India in six years, the other Test matches will be played in Mohali and Bangalore. The tour, which begins on February 25, also features five ODIs. — AP

‘Beckham is safe’

LONDON:

Sven-Goran Eriksson says David Beckham’s place on the right side of England’s midfield is safe — for now. The England coach is under pressure to give Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips a shot at Beckham’s spot. But Eriksson says he’s more likely to try Shaun-Phillips on the left side, although he’s also considering moving Beckham to a central midfield role. — AP
