Singh to go to South Korea

KATHMANDU: Kishor Bahadur Singh, president of Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA), president of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and member secretary of National Sports Council (NSC), and NTA vice president and NOC member Sitkar Rajbhandari, are scheduled to go to South Korea on Wednesday to take part in the general assembly of World Taekwondo Federation to be held there on June 10 and 11. Singh will also hold talks with various sportspersons in Korea for the development of sports. — HNS

Volleyball team departs

KATHMANDU: A six-member Nepali Beach Volleyball team today left for Bangladesh to take part in the Beach Volleyball Tournament to be held in Chittagong from June 15-18. NSC member secretary Kishor Bahadur Singh bade farewell to the players. The team include male players Pratap Khawas and Prem Bahadur, female players Anju Shrestha and Nita Kumari Shah. Kumar Prasad Ojha, vice president of Nepal Volleyball Association and Anita Kunwar are the officials of the team. — HNS

U-18 tennis from June 12

KATHMANDU: Nanglo Pvt Ltd, in association with All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association, is organising the second Nanglo International Under-18 Tennis Championship from June 12-19 at Satdobato Tennis Complex. In all, 108 players in singles and 60 in doubles will take part. The organisers have aimed to promote tennis among the teenagers and create a platform for them to further proceed to higher standard. The first edition of the event was held in 2002. — HNS
