CAN announces squad

Kathmandu: Cricket Association of Nepal today announced the 14-member team for the second match of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, to be held in Kathmandu from April 23-25. National Selection Committee, under the convenorship of Sushil Chaugain finalised the sqaud to face Malaysia. Raju Khadka has been retained as the captain, while other members include Paresh Lohani, Paras Khadka, Yunil Shrestha, Dipendra Chaudhari, Kalam Ali, Mehboob Alam, Manoj Katuwal (wicketkeeper), Bikash Lal Dali, Sajam Regmi, Shakti Gauchan, Raj Kumar Pradhan, Sharad Vesawkar and Raju Basnyat. Binod Das, injured during the camp, has been named as substitute along with Kanishka Chaugain, Paras Lunia and Manjit Shrestha. — HNS

Maradona hospitalised

BUENOS AIRES: Diego Maradona remained hospitalised in intensive care, breathing with the help of a respirator on Monday after heart and blood pressure problems. Maradona was taken to the hospital on Sunday after watching former team Boca Juniors play. The Suizo-Argentina private clinic said Maradona appeared to be suffering from the heart-related condition known as cardiomyopathy, additional blood pressure problems, and was being assisted with a breathing tube. Dr Alfredo Cahe described Maradona’s condition as ‘critical’.— AP

The sevens sports figures chosen all are listed among “Heroes and Icons,” one of five categories used by the magazine that hit newsstands on Monday. — AP
