NPC clinch women’s trophy

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) claimed the National Women’s Volleyball League Championship here on Thursday. NPC defeated Western Region 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 15-13 and finished with 12 points winning all six matches. They won Rs 50,000 while runners up Western Region collected Rs 25,000. Eastern Region defeated Central Region to finish third and won Rs 15,000 while Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Club ended up fourth to win Rs 10,000. Meanwhile, Employment Creation Services and PLA entered the Super League of the men’s section after securing the top two places.— HNS

Kantipur continue dominance

LALITPUR: Kantipur Chess Club, Machhindra Club, Makkhan Chess Club and Himalayan Chess Club ‘A’ and ‘B’ shared the leaderboard with four points in the first National Club Team Chess Championship here on Thursday. In the second round match, all four players from Kantipur came up with wins against Far Western Region on the day when Surbir Lama, Rijendra Raj Bhandari, Niraj Niraula and Shyam Shrestha also won against all four of Nepal Chess Club. — HNS

Prime, Golden Gate in final

KATHMANDU: Prime and Golden College ‘A’ fixed the final clash at the first Bern Hardt Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. In the semi-finals, Prime saw off ACE 72-31 and Golden Gate ousted Little Angels’ College 65-34. — HNS
