Bouddha champions
KATHMANDU: Bouddha Dojo claimed the team championship of the second Valleywide Shito-Ryu Karate Tournament on Saturday. Bouddha claimed four gold to finish first while Balaju Dojo and Samakhushi Dojo finished second and third respectively. Rakesh Thapa of Lainchaur Dojo and Mallika Thapa of Balaju Dojo were adjudged the best players in the men’s and women’s section respectively. Shyam Lama and Sarita Tamang of hosts Manakamana Dojo were named as the Rising Stars. — HNS
Ramailo badminton
LALITPUR: Thulo Bhai KC and Rabi Rai combined to beat Chhiring Lama and Dyan 35-32 on the opening day of the third Ramailo Doubles Badminton Tournament here on Saturday. Likewise, Ramesh Thapa and Milan KC saw off Namgyal Lama and Binod Shrestha 35-12, Ram Chandra Basnet and Bijay Shrestha defeated Sharad Aryal and Shyam Basnet 35-31. In all, 11 pairs are participating in the tournament organised by Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club. — HNS
Prajapati, Kapali win
KATHMANDU: Bijay Dangol and Binita Kapali of Annapurna School and Raj Prajapati of Khwapring School won Mahanta Memorial Chess Tournament on Saturday. Dangol edged past Akash Subedi of Valley View on better progressive points after both the players were tied with six points in the Senior Boys’ category. Kapali won the Girls’ section title with 4.5 points, one point more than Matina Kusi of Khwapring. Likewise, Raj claimed the Junior Boys’ title with four points. Sanjay Aryal of North Point finished second with three points. — HNS
Football tournament
KATHMANDU: All Star Football Club is organising the second Inter-club National Football Tournament from September 10 at Abu Khaireni. Apart from the hosts All Star, Kaski-XI, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Armed Police Force Club, Sankata, Sahara, Inter Sports (Butwal), ANFA Youth 19 and Himalayan Sherpa Club (Kathmandu) will vie for the championship. The winner of the knockout tournament will receive Rs 111,111 and the runners up will take home Rs 50,000, said the organisers. Best player, goalkeeper, highest scorer and Fair Play Team will receive Rs 5,000 each. — HNS
Main Dojo triumph
KATHMANDU: Main Dojo won the team championship of the 14th Valley Public Gojukai Karate Tournament here on Saturday. Main Dojo claimed 11 gold, six silver and three bronze medals. Children Model School finished second with five gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals while hosts Valley Public ended up third with one gold, five silver and 14 bronze medals. Mahesh Thapa and Samjhana Limbu won the best player awards. — HNS
