Loyalty in final

KATHMANDU: Hosts Loyalty ‘A’ and Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) entered the final of the Loyalty Cup third valleywide inter-school junior football tournament here on Thurdday. In the first semi-final, Loyalty defeated Children Heaven 1-0 riding on Aang Sonal Sherpa.

Children Heaven goalkeeper Janak Kumal was named the man of the match. In

the other match, Uskal Lohani scored the deciding goal as RIBS edged past Bouddha School 3-2. Man of the match Sajib Maharjan and Bitpal Raut also scored for RIBS, while Aashish Moktan and Pasang Lama netted one goal each for Bouddha.— HNS

Weekia Talentia

KATHMANDU: Hosts Don Bosco entered the boys basketball quarter-finals at the Weekia Talentia. Don Bosco defeated New Summit 86-47 in which Nibesh Thapa scored 40 points for the winners. In the other match, Trinity beat Nava Jyoti 46-34 riding in Manish Hamal’s 19 points. In the women’s section, Babita and Preeti scored eight points each as Prime Sports Club overcame Orient 28-17. — HNS

New Shrine win

KATHMANDU: New Shrine defeated South Point 18-16 in the women’s section match at the eighth Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Kumari Lama scored 12 points for the winners. In other matches, Kantipur defeated Gyan Niketan 33-17; Valley Public beat Mahendra Bhawan 25-17; and Teresa outplayed Reliance 23-15. In senior boys’ section, New Shrine registered a thrilling 62-61 win in over time after the match ended at 58-all in the normal time. In the extra time, New Shrine took a 4-3 lead. Shrojan Shrestha scored 27 points for the winners. In junior boys’ section, Newton beat Mahendra Bhawan 18-9 and Zenith registered a 45-33 win over Brihaspati riding on 18 points from Bishwo KC. Dinkar Jung Bhandari of Brihaspati also scored 18 points. — HNS

LA triumph

KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ (LA) School, Manaslu and Deep Jyoti won both matches at the first Newton Inter-school Volleyball Tournament. LA defeated Newton ‘B’ 25-22, 26-24 before defeating AI School 22-25, 25-15, 25-21 in boys section. Also, Newton ‘A’ beat Oxford 25-17, 25-15; Manaslu defeated AI 25-23, 25-11 and then beat Angel Heart 25-20, 25-28, while Deep Jyoti defeated Oxford 25-18, 25-17 and Man Mohan HS School 25-13, 25-17. Greenfield earned a walkover win. In girls’ section Angels Heart registered a 25-14, 25-23 win over Newton before losing 17-25, 25-22, 24-26 to Deep Jyoti. Annal Jyoti beat Gyan Sudha 25-12, 25-4. — HNS

MYA in semis

BHAKTAPUR: Madhyapur Youth Association (MYA) and Freedom Shantinagar entered the semi-finals of the sixth Siddhi Ganesh Cup Football Tournament. In the quarter-finals, MYA routed Kavre Border 8-1, while Freedom thrashed Bhaktapur United 7-0. — HNS

BHAKTAPUR: SS College advanced to the semi-finals of the Valleywide Inter-college Futsal Tournament. SS defeated Khwopa ‘Blue’ 2-1. Rakesh Sinkeman and Thakur Shretsha scored for SS, while Amit Duwal scored for Khwopa. In the other match, Khwopa ‘Red’ and Golden Gate played a 2-2 draw. Bikesh Manandhar and Nirdosh Bista scored for Khwopa, while Ayush Lama and Anish Raj Shrestha netted for Golden Gate. — HNS
