Shrestha finishes 27th

KATHMANDU: Nepali golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha finished joint 27th at the City Bank-Dhaka Bank Bangladesh Open on Saturday. Shiva Ram totalled seven-over 288 to finish joint 27th along with Gurki Shergil at the Kurmitola Golf Club. Shiva Ram, who finished the final round with even-par 72, had carded 78, 73 and 72 in the first three rounds.— HNS

Bista to go to the US

KATHMANDU: Taekwondo ace Deepak Bista on Tuesday is leaving for the US to take part in the International Referee Seminar to be held in Las Vegas from February 7-10. The seminar is being held on the sidelines of the US Open Taekwondo Championship slated from February 12-15. An 11-member Nepali team is participating in the championship. Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Pushpa Thapa Magar, Binod Thapa, Ashish Maharjan, Bima Rai, Yan Kumari Chaulagain, Sabina Maharjan and Ayesha Shakya have been selected as the players. Indraman Tuladhar and Bista are the coaches, while Bimala Bhandari is the manager of the team. — HNS
