Shuttlers depart

KATHMANDU: A five-member Nepali badminton team on Sunday left for China to participate in the training to be held in Guangzhou. Players Bikash Shrestha, Sahadev Khadka and Sushmita Gurung along with coaches Rajani Joshi and Sudip Yonjon will take part in the training to be organised by Badminton World Federation. Member Secretary of National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the team. Nepal Badminton Association president Prakash Bahadur Shahi and General Secretary Ramji Shrestha among others were present on the occasion. — HNS

TORONTO: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by three wickets to win their Toronto Twenty/20 clash with just one ball to spare. Pakistan made 141-7 with man of the match Shoaib Malik making an unbeaten 42 after Sri Lanka, who rested skipper Mahela Jayawardene and spin wizard Ajantha Mendis, had hit 137-9 off their 20 overs.
