NVA releases annual calendar

KATHMANDU: Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has come up with an annual calendar for the first time in three decades here on Wednesday. The association included inter-college, inter-school, inter-bank, corporate level and national men’s and women’s tournament. The calendar also includes Nepal’s participation in international tournaments mostly to be held in India. The NVA also plans to take part in the Beach Volleyball tournaments. “We are committed to organise and participate in the national and international events,” said NVA president Ganga Bahadur Thapa. — HNS

Thapa to leave for the US

KATHMANDU: Member of the Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (NITF) and coach Prakash Bosel Thapa is schedule to leave for North Carolina on Thursday. Thapa will participate in the second American Open International Taekwondo Tournament slated for July 26. Thapa will also attend the Taekwondo Festival in Florida on August 1-3. The NITF president Krishna Bahadur Balal bade farewell to Thapa here on Wednesday. — HNS

Charumati qualify for C Division

KATHMANDU: Suraj Shrestha struck a hat-trick to help Charumati Youth Club qualify for the C Division League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Khalibari Football Club in the Group D final of the qualifying tournament. Bindyabasini Youth Club and Varsity Football Club made it to the Group D final. Bindyabasini crushed Shangri-La Youth Club 4-0 on goals from Sushil Shahi, Santosh Khadka, Sudip Gurung and Ranjit Lama while Varsity defeated Samudayek Sewa Griha 3-1. Nandu Khapangi scored a brace and Ding Lama added the other. — HNS
