KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council on Monday said all the preparations for the 13th Lower Secondary and Secondary School Level Special Sports and 11th Cultural Competitions have been completed. A total of 524 players and officials including 197 in mentally challenged, 59 in hearing impaired, 96 in physically challenged sections will take part in the June 18-20 event. The competitions included in the event are 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4X100m and wheel chair races, shotput, softball throw, javelin throw, standing long jump and long jump. — HNS

Pranit, Sangam lead

KATHMANDU: Pranit Sigdel of AVM and Sangam Adhikari of Deep Jyoti shared the lead at the Times Chess Tournament. Both the players earned four points after the fourth round on Monday. Sigdel beat Nabin Jaiswal and Kishor Budhathoki, while Adhikari defeated Rupesh Jaiswal and Tara Ghale. In all, 10 players are tie for the joint second position. Tara Ghale, Rupesh Ghale, Nabin Jaiswal, Ahsas Khambu, Shanta Thapa, Shuva Kalyan Shrestha, Prashant Thapa, Niraj Shrestha, Prashanta Bhasima, Kishor have three points each. — HNS
