Alam felicitated

KATHMANDU: Shangri-La Cricket Academy on Wednesday felicitated national cricket team alrounder Mehboob Alam for taking the 10-wicket haul against Mozambique at the ICC World Cricket League Division V Tournament last week. CEO of Sunrise Bank Ltd, Kishore Maharjan presented Rs 11,000 to Alam. The Academy also awarded the life-time membership to him. Alam had created history in the tournament in Jersey becoming the first bowler to take the 10-wicket haul in an innings in the ICC-sanctioned events. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Times International defeated EECC 65-29 at the fifth Fr Watrin Basketball Tournament here at the GAA Hall on Wednesday. Wisdom Pandey of Times International top-scored with 18 points, while Tarkeshwor Shah contributed nine points for EECC. In the other match, Public Youth Campus (PYC) beat NBA 86-46. Binod Shrestha scored 22 points for the winners and Anish Gurung netted 15 points for NBA. — HNS

Delhi-XI beat BCC

KATHMANDU: Delhi-XI defeated Baluwatar Cricket Club (BCC) by 37 runs in the Friendship Series match on Wednesday. Batting first at the TU Stadium, Baluwatar were bowled out for 149 runs in 33.2 overs, before overcoming the target losing seven wickets in 35 overs. Abhaya Rana scored 50-ball 40, while Prithu Baskota made 28 off 54 balls and Prafulla Vaidhya remained unbeaten on 20 off 33 balls. Sitender Malik and Lokesh Sharma took three wickets each for the visitors. In reply, man of the match Malik scored 53 off 58 balls, while Ajay Rathi made 39 off 79 balls. Sunam Gautam took 2-26 and Baskota and Rana claimed one wicket each for Baluwatar. On Thursday, Yangal Club will take on Delhi-XI. — HNS
