MYA starts academy

BHAKTAPUR: Madhyapur Youth Association (MYA) started a football academy here on Saturday. The MYA, who motto is Football for Education, took in 30 children as a starter and claimed to take care of their education for the next four years. “We chose these kids because they stood apart from the rest,” said MYA president Upendra Man Singh. Various schools of Bhaktapur have provided the children the scholarships. Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid Town handed over balls to MYA. The estimated cost to run the academy is Rs 1.3 million, said Singh, the former national football team captain. — HNS

Phuyal felicitated

LALITPUR: Nabil Three Star Club felicitated newly elected member of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Ajay Phuyal here on Saturday. Phuyal won the FNJ election as an associate member from Nepal Sports Journalists Forum. Constituent Assembly members from Lalitpur district Barsa Man Pun, Raj Kaji Maharjan, Ansari Gharti, Ganga Parajuli, Ram Krishna Chitrakar, Bishwo Bhakta Dulal, Janak Kumari Chalise and Radha Devi Timalsina were also feted on the occasion. — HNS

Foundation stone laid

LALITPUR: President of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Ganesh Thapa laid the foundation stone of the Chyasal Youth Club building in Bholdhoka here on Saturday.

The three-storey building will have nine rooms and will also be used for a business purpose, said president of the ‘C’ Division club Dinesh Byanjankar. The estimated cost of the building is Rs 1.5 million which will be met by the club’s internal resources as well as donations, added Byanjankar. — HNS
