KATHMANDU: Gyanu Baba lead the standings in the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women’s Volleyball League after defeating hosts Chhantyal Sports Team 25-9, 25-11, 25-7 here on Thursday. Gyanu Baba have 42 points followed by Fishtail Academy with 39 and Bright Future with 33. Fishtail registered an easy win over New Daimond 25-4, 25-12, 25-13 today. Vieira intends to stay

ROME: France captain Patrick Vieira claimed on Thursday that he intends to finish his career with Italian champions Inter Milan. Vieira has had a frustrating season with injuries but he is back in the side for the crucial Serie A run-in, beginning with Sunday’s eagerly-anticipated Milan derby against AC. The midfielder joined Inter in 2006 after his previous club Juventus were demoted for match-fixing. Vieira had won the title in his only season with the Old Lady of Turin after nine years at Arsenal but was stripped of that crown due to the scandal. — AFP

Edelman resigns

LONDON: Arsenal’s managing director Keith Edelman is to stand down after eight years at the helm, the club announced to the London Stock Exchange on Thursday. He resigned as a director of Arsenal Holdings PLC but “will be retained by the club for a 12-month period to ensure that a smooth transition takes place.” Edelman said that he had decided to move on to seek other challenges. Arsenal have already started the search for a successor, with director Ken Friar assuming the role of acting managing director. — AFP
