APF enter final

MAHENDRA NAGAR: Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club entered the final of the 10th National Women’s Football Tournament with a 2-0 win over Kailali here on Sunday. Jamuna Gurung provided APF the lead in the 34th minute and Anu Lama added the second in the 66th. Pramila Rai sealed their place in the final after scoring from a free kick in the 70th minute. APF will take on Ilam in final on Tuesday. — HNS

Venus lift trophy

KATHMANDU: Venus claimed the boys’ championship while Bright Future won the girls’ title of the third SEB Inter-school Volleyball Tournament here on Sunday. Venus beat Deep Jyoti 25-15, 25-27, 25-15 and Bright Future defeated New Diamond 25-20, 25-23, 25-9 in the finals. Som Thapa of the organising Samakhushi English Boarding (SEB) School was declared the best player in the boys’ section while Anu Shrestha of Bright Future earned the honour in the girls’ section. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) overcame hosts Kathmandu Don Bosco 49-45 in the Inter-school Basketball Tournament held under Weeka Talentia on Sunday. In other boys’ section matches, National Integrated College (NIC) beat Columbus College 39-22 and Classic College edged British Gorkha 50-46. In the only girls’ match of the day, Nobel Academy defeated Reliance Academy 21-16. — HNS

GNS triumph

KATHMANDU: Hosts Gyan Niketan School (GNS) advanced to the girls’ section semi-finals with a 28-14 win over Don Bosco in the seventh Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Sunday. Mahendra Bhawan made it to the semi-finals as runner up to Gyan Niketan. Suryodaya and Teresa also enter the last four from Group ‘B’. Teresa ousted Trungram International Academy 23-22. In the boys’ section, Baba Boarding School beat VS Niketan 53-40, Learning realm International edged past Babylon 65-39, Valley Public overcame Brihaspati 43-22, Nirmal school trounced Nalanda 34-2 and Unique defeated Grammar Public 58-41. — HNS

Volleyball

BHAKTAPUR: Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club overcame Madhyapur Thimi Municipality 25-14, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19 in the fifth Nationwide Workers’ Cup Volleyball here on Sunday. In another match, EPS Manpower beat Kathmandu Alfa Beta Institute 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17. Banepa Municipality got a walkover win from Jawalakhel Volleyball Club. — HNS

Saraswoti win

KATHMANDU: Mahendra Ratna ‘B’ and Saraswoti Campus registered wins on the opening day of the Inter-college Volleyball Tournament here on Sunday. Hosts Mahendra Ratna defeated Pashupati Campus 25-18, 25-17 and Saraswoti Campus beat Public Youth Campus 25-20, 25-22. In all, 12 teams are participating in the tournament. — HNS
