Khan ruled out
SYDNEY: India’s pace bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of the Australian cricket tour with a heel injury, according to local and Indian media. Khan, who led the attack in a 337-run loss to Australia in Melbourne last week, failed a fitness test just before the second of four Test matches started Wednesday in Sydney. The Press Trust India quoted Dilip Vengsarkar, India’s selection panel chief, saying Khan would be out for six weeks. Fast bowler Vikram Rajvir Singh will join the tourists in Australia. — AP
Anelka hopeful
PARIS: Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka says he’s hopeful for a move to Chelsea. “The presidents are talking. I hope it will happen (and), most of all, that I am eligible for the Champions League,” the France forward said. “But as long as the contract has not been signed and I have not been presented to the press with my new shirt, nothing is finalised.” Anelka is Bolton’s leading scorer this season with 10 goals in the Premier League, and has been linked with a move to several clubs. — AP
