B’desh win T20

HAMILTON: Bangladesh won its first match in New Zealand in three tours when it beat a New Zealand XI by four wickets in a Twenty20 game on Sunday. Farhad Reza scored 31 from 17 balls and shared a 48-run fifth wicket partnership with Mehrab Hossain to guide Bangladesh to 134-6 in reply to New Zealand XI’s 133-7 and victory with three overs to spare. The win would boost confidence ahead of Bangladesh’s three-match limited overs series against New Zealand from Boxing Day. They failed to achieve a win in any form of the game on their first two tours. — AP

NPS lift trophy

KAVRE: Nepal Police School (NPS) beat Rupak Memorial 3-0 to win the 16th IGP Inter-school Running Football Cup here on Sunday. Sujan Yonzon, Ajay Lama and Suraj Thapa scored a goal each for the winners. Deep Jyoti blanked Little Angels’ 3-0 on two goals from Sunil Basnet and one from Shumsher Khatri to finish third. The top three teams earned Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. Suraj Thapa of NPS was adjudged the player of the tournament and teammate Ajaya Khatri the man of the final. Sujan Yonzon of NPS was the highest scorer with 11 goals. Little Angels’ won the fair play award. IGP Om Bikram Rana gave away the prizes. — HNS
