Daffodil triumph
KATHMANDU: Daffodil Public School claimed the the second New Millennium Inter-school Basketball Tournament with a 45-42 win over VS Niketan here on Monday. Dipen BK netted 21 for the winners while Binay top-scored with 26 points for VS Niketan. Bishal Karki of Daffodil was declared the most valuable player of the tournament paticipated in by 13 teams. Badal Adhikari of VS Niketan finished with the highest scorer of the tournament. — HNS
BSAM Cup football
BHAKTAPUR: Hosts Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhalaya (BSAM) and SOS School plaed a 1-1 draw in the inaugural match of the seventh BSAM Running Football Trophy here on Monday. Bikash Kunwar scored for BSAM and Binod Bista converted for SOS. In all, eight schools are taking part in the tournament. — HNS
Woods wins
California: Tiger Woods closed with a 4-under 68 to match the tournament record at the Target World Challenge and set a record for the largest margin of victory, by seven shots over Masters champion Zach Johnson on Sunday. Woods had not played since September at the Presidents Cup, but he didn’t show much rust in winning his tournament for the fourth time and becoming the first player to win in consecutive years. Johnson closed with a 68. Woods finished at 22-under 266, tying the tournament record first set by Davis Love III in 2000. — AP
