HSYC clinch trophy:

RUPANDEHI: Himalayan Sherpa Youth Club beat Lalbandi Sports Club 4-2 in tie-breaker to lift the first Sayapatri Gold Cup Football Tournament here on Saturday. The game was forced to tie-breaker after a goalless draw in the 105 mintues of play. Sunil Subedi, Lok Bandhu Gurung, Raju Maharjan and Utsav KC all converted the spot kicks for Himalayan Sherpa while only Raj Kumar Ghising and Shisir Adhikari scored for Lalbandi. The winners got Rs 50,000 and the runners up received Rs 25,000. — HNS

West Indies in trouble:

CHESTER-LE-STREET: Ryan Sidebottom took a wicket with the first ball of the match as West Indies struggled to 92-4 on the second day of the fourth Test at the Riverside on Saturday. At tea, left-arm quick Sidebottom had taken 2-30 in 10 overs. He was well supported by Matthew Hoggard (1-22) and Stephen Harmison (1-27). But Shivnarine Chanderpaul, dropped on nine, was 37 not out and Dwayne Bravo 14 not out, the pair having put on 37 after West Indies had collapsed to 55-4 in 17 overs. — AFP

Akhtar back in squad:

BHURBAN: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar regained full fitness to claim a place in Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the upcoming tour of Scotland. Akhtar missed the World Cup due to a knee injury and was also left for the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi last month. Pakistan play one-off ODI against India on July 1 and against the hosts Scotland two days later. Former vice-captain Younis Khan also returned to the team. — AFP
