No action: Hurst

MANCHESTER: No action will be taken against Steve Harmison and Liam Plunkett, the England players who were seen bowling on the square between innings on the second day of the third Test at Old Trafford. Match referee Alan Hurst issued a statement in response to West Indies’ complaint after Harmison and Plunkett were spotted warming up on the used pitch on the edge of the Old Trafford square. “The matter was dealt with at the time,” said Hurst. “There will be no further action.” — Agencies

Spurs beat Cavs

SAN ANTONIO: LeBron James could not solve San Antonio’s stifling defense and the pick-and-rolling Spurs outclassed Cleveland in a 85-76 win over the Cavaliers in Game 1. Tim Duncan had 24 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks, and Tony Parker added 27 points for the Spurs, who began their quest for a fourth championship since 1999 by putting on a basketball clinic for the Cavs, finals rookies. — AP
