LALITPUR: Nepal Olympian Commission elected a nine-member Nepal Olympian Association here on Monday. Sunil Lal Joshi is the president of the newly elected committee while Prabin Tuladhar and Sangina Baidya are the vice-presidents. Puspa Raj Ojha is the general secretary, Krishna Bahadur Basnet the treasurer and Mukunda Hari Shreshta the joint-secretary of the committee. Likewise, Krishna Ram Pradhan, Nayana Shakya and Bimala Rana

Junior Taekwondo

KATHMANDU: Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) is organising the fifth Junior National Taekwondo Tournament here on May 11-12. In all 150 players will compete for the 20 gold medals, said ITF, Nepal at a press meet today. Top two players in each of the 20 events will be kept for the closed camp training. Best players from the closed camp will represent Nepal in the first South Asian (ITF) Taekwondo Championship slated for December in Kathmandu, said ITF, Nepal president Krishna Bahadur Balal. — HNS

Marathoner dies

LONDON: A 22-year-old man died in the hospital on Monday, a day after completing the London Marathon. The man fell ill after finishing Sunday’s race and was taken to the hospital, organizers said in a statement. He is the ninth fatality in the 27-year history of the race. More than 36,000 people took part in a record turnout for the London Marathon. — AP
