Chhetry felicitated
KATHMANDU: Syuchatar Taekwondo Dojang felicitated taekwondo player Raju Chhetry for his outstanding contribution to popularise Nepali taekwondo in South Korea. Purendra Lakhe, member of National Sports Council, handed over the felicitation letter to Chhetry, who is also the president of Nepal-Korea Taekwondo Union in Korea. — HNS
Teachers’ volleyball
KATHMANDU: Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan beat hosts Universal Higher Secondary School 25-9, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14 in the opening match of the Valley-wide Inter-school Teachers’ Volleyball Tournament. The host team, however, registered a 25-18, 25-20 win over LRI in the other league match. Other winners were Venus School, Gyan Kunja, Gyan Niketan, Mount Senai and Jagat Mandir. — HNS
Rs 9 lakhs to Sahara
POKHARA: British and Norwagian donors have granted Sahara Club around Rs nine lakhs on Saturday. The donation was collected with the efforts of the honorary member of the club Nabin Gurung. Gunnar Stromsholm, the leader of the 22-member team including British, Norwegian, Spanish and African nationals, handed over the cheque to the club president Bikram Thakali. — HNS

KATHMANDU: White House registered a 66-29 win over Dragons and South Siders edged past Rato Bangala 47-10 in the first Narayan Man Manandhar Memorial Basketball Championship which has been organised by Bishal Nagar Youth Club.
