Bharati finishes sixth
KATHMANDU: Nirmala Bharati finished sixth in the Vattenfall Berlin Half Marathon in Germany on Sunday and is returning to Kathmandu on Tuesday. Bharati clocked 1hrs 18mins and 46secs, eclipsing her own mark of 1:20:13 set in the Nepal Investment Bank 35th National Athletics Championship . — HNS
Badminton training
KATHMANDU: Assistant coaches Kiran Thapa and Mahendra Shrestha are leaving for India on Tuesday to take part in a badminton training to be held in Prakash Padukun Badminton Academy in Bangalore from April 5-15. Agrahari elected
KATHMANDU: The general assembly of Nepal Chess Association elected a 11-member committee under the presidentship of Sitaram Agrahari. Arun Kumar Shrestha, Prakash Sijapati and Sujendra Prasad Shrestha were elected as the vice-presidents. Others in the committee are Bhawani Limbu (general secretary), Bidur Prasad Gautam (secretary), Rajendra Prasad Shrestha (treasurer), and members Jyoti Basnet, Rajendra Prasad Rijal, Badri Lal Nepali and Sushil Shrestha. — HNS
Del Piero hopeful
TURIN: Medical tests on Alessandro Del Piero’s injured left thigh returned satisfactory results with the Juventus captain hoping to play against Arsenal in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg. Del Piero will undergo physical tests on Tuesday before a decision is made on his availability. Jonathan Zebina, Mauro Camoranesi and Patrick Vieira are suspended for the return leg. — AP
