Saraswoti lift trophy
KATHMANDU: Martyrs’ Memorial ‘B’ Division League Champions Saraswoti Youth Club lifted the championship trophy at a programme held at ANFA complex Satdobato on Wednesday. ANFA president Ganesh Thapa presented a cheque of Rs 50,000 to the champions along with a cheque of Rs 25,000 to the runners up Star Club. On the occasion, Thapa announced the raise in the prize money for the next year. Champions and runners up will now get Rs 200,000 and 100,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the club felicitated its players and officials amidst a programme. — HNS
Match abandoned
NAPIER: Play on the fifth and final day in the third Test cricket between New Zealand and the West Indies was abandoned because of rain on Wednesday, leaving New Zealand 2-0 winners in the three-match series. A week of heavy rain saw the first two days of the Test disrupted, allowing only 78 overs to be bowled, with the remaining three days washed out. In the limited time available, the West Indies made 256 for four in their first innings. — AFP
