India win U-16 title

KATHMANDU: India beat both Nepal and Sri Lanka by identical score of 3-0 and won the title of the Regional Under-16 Boys Team Events Badminton Championship, organised by Nepal Badminton Association and Youth Development Centre. Sri Lanka beat Nepal 3-0 and came second in the three-team event. Crown Princess Himani gave away the prizes. — HNS

DAV lift girls’ title

KATHMANDU: DAV School won the girls’ section title of the Inter-college Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Kathmandu Don Bosco College under the seventh Weeka Talentia. DAV won all the five league-round matches to finished first with 15 points, ahead of Prime College who earned 12. In boy’s section semi-finals, Prime beat Don Bosco 59-38 and White House beat White Field 52-43. — HNS

Unique Basketball

KATHMANDU: Young Hearts beat Unique 44-23 in the final of the first Unique Inter-school Junior Boys’ Basketball Tournament, organised by Atulaneeya (Unique) School. Lyceum School finished third. Chimi Rinzin of Young Hearts was declared the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Deepak Gurung of Unique won the highest scorer’s award and St Xavier

Tashi wins SIRC Cup

Kathmandu: Lobsang Tashi won the third SIRC (Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center) Charity Golf Tournament at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort. Played at stableford 7/8-handicap format, Tashi scored 38 points to beat Bijay Bahadur Shrestha by two poi-nts. Harish Gorisia (31) won the best gross award. Other winners were Kesang Lama (ladies), Maj DB Rai (senior), Rupak Acharya (closest to the pin), Tashi Ghale (most birdies), Niraj Rana (longest drive) and Tsewang Za-rotsang (best sportsmanship). — HNS
