Adhikari bereaved

KATHMANDU: The central committee member of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum Aman Adhikari and former national football team goalkeeper Ajar Adhikari were berieved of their 62-year-old mother Shanta Adhikari, who died this morning. She was survived by two sons — Aman and Ajar — and husband Chhetra Pratap Adhikari, former minister and poet. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Dipendra Police School and Blue Moon School entered the quarter-finals of the Ratna Shield Inter-school Football Tournament, which has been organised by All Nepal Football Association to mark the 78th birthday of Queen Mother Ratna, here today. In the first pre-quarter match held at Sano Gaucharan, Dipendra Police defeated Siddhartha Vanasthali 3-0. Narendra Rokka struck twice and Prakash Gurung scored one goal. In the other match, Blue Moon school beat Trungram International Academy 2-1. Sunny Lama put Blue Moon ahead in the 15th minute while Rajiv Thapa Magar levelled the scores in teh 29th minute. Gopal Shrestha snatched the winner in the 69th minute. KATHMANDU: Sambotta School defeated Young Hearts 68-24 in the senior boys’ final of the Kwik’s Cheeseball Fraternity Inter-school Basketball Tournament, organised by Sambotta School. South point defeated Sambotta 18-10 to win the senior girls’ title, while Sambotta defeated South Point 52-23 in the junior boys’ final of the three-team tournament organised annually under the sponsorship of Chaudhary Group’s Kwik’s Cheeseball. — HNS

John Terry injured

LONDON: England defender John Terry is in doubt for next weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Wales after picking up a knee injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory on Saturday at Tottenham. Terry continued playing after suffering the injury in an awkward fall, which was witnessed by England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. “He has a problem with his knee,” Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said. “I think another player... would have been off.
