SAG meeting held

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Participation and Preparation Committee for the 10th South Asian Games (SAG) was held under the presidentship of minister for Education and Sports R K Mainali. The meeting decided to form an executive committee under Kishor Bahadur Singh, member secretary of National Sports Council. In all, 170 players and officials from Nepal will take part in 17 out of 18 events included in the Games to be held in Sri Lanka, next year. The meeting also decided to hold the first-phase selection camp from August 16. — HNS

RIBS beat Himalaya

KATHMANDU: RIBS defeated Himalaya School 40-13 in the Kathmandu District-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament, riding on Diwas Khatri’s 19 points. In other matches, Shreediwa beat HIMS 54-38; Nava Jyoti beat Araniko 30-17; Suryodaya edged past Mount Glory 31-29; and Gyan Niketan earned walk over from Kathmandu Don Bosco. — HNS
