Brett Lee in hospital
BIRMINGHAM: Brett Lee was admitted to a hospital with an infection in his left knee on Monday, a day after taking Australia to within three runs win over England in the second Test. Lee had swelling and soreness in his knee and was being treated with antibiotics. He would remain in hospital overnight and wouldn’t travel with the Australian team to Manchester
on Tuesday. His condition and availability for the third Test is uncertain. — AP
Canas banned
PONTE VEDRA BEACH: Tenth-ranked Guillermo Canas of Argentina has been suspended from tennis for two years for testing positive for a banned diuretic. The 27-year-old Canas tested positive in February at the Mexican Open in Acapulco. Canas protested his innocence in an interview with the Argentine newspaper in June, saying he never knowingly ingested any banned substance. — AP
