KATHMANDU: Jeewan Shrestha top-scored with eight points as Shanti Adarsha School defeated Mount Glory International School 17-14 in a Pool F match at the Kathmandu District wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today. In other matches, Bhanubhakta School beat Himalaya Vidya Mandir 14-10 with Saroj netting seven points in Pool B; Prakash top-scored with 11 points in Zenith School’s 38-20 win over Pushpa Kunja in Pool C; Raju netted 10 points as Mount View School beat Deep Jyoti School 26-10 in Pool D; and Sunrise School thrashed Mount Glory English School 25-9 riding on Bikesh’s 12 points in Pool H. Ivanova sets record

HELSINKI: Olimpiada Ivanova of Russia set a world record in the women’s 20-kilometre walk on Sunday at the world athletics championships to win gold in 1 hour, 25 minutes, 41 seconds. Ivanova also won the world title in 2001. Both Yan Wang of China and Yelena Nikolayeva of Russia had the previous record of 1:26.22. Ryta Turava of Belarus was second in 1:27.05, followed by Susanna Feitor of Portugal in 1:28.44. — AP
