Coaches Seoul-bound
KATHMANDU: Taekwondo coaches Pramod Manandhar, Dhruba Gurung and Sapana Malla, along with assistant coach Nabin Kumar Shrestha, left for Seoul to take part in the Taekwondo
Coaches’ Training to be held from July 25-30. The coaches, participating from all over the world, will be trained in various aspects of the game and Nepal Taekwondo Association believe that such kind of training will help improve the standard of taekwondo in Nepal. — HNS
Karate tourney begins
KATHMANDU: The District-wide Karate and Kick Boxing Competition, under the auspices of Naxal Dojo of Nepal Shito-Ryu Karate Association marking the King’s 59th birthday, began here today. In all, 177 athletes are taking part in 22 different categories. Member secretary of National Sports Council Kishor Bahadur Singh inaugurated the two-day event. — HNS
Paneru loses in Jakarta
KATHMANDU: Rajendra Paneru got some experiences in the international badminton when he participated and lost in boys’ (U-19) singles to a Serbian 3-15, 9-15 in the qualifying round of the eighth Junior Asian Badminton Championship held in Jakarta from July 11-17. President of Nepal Badminton Association Prakash Bahadur Shahi, who took part at the Annual General Meeting of the Asian Badminton Confederation, said that Nepal was taking part in the International Satellite Badminton Championship, to be held in Sri Lanka from August 25-28. — HNS
