Titans, Challengers record second victories in MCL

Parbat Titans and KKAF Syangja Challengers recorded their second victories in the Machhapuchhre Cricket League here at the MCC grounds today.

Titans defeated Informatics College Cheetahs by 52 runs, while Challengers thrashed VM Warriors Baglung by eight wickets.

Opting to bat first, Titans scored 111-9 in their allotted 20 overs before they packed Informatics for 59 runs in 14.2 overs.

Titans reached the fighting total riding on Sahil Karki’s 26 off 29 balls that included five boundaries. Avishek Thapa scored 20 off 40 balls with the help of three boundaries.

Informatics’ Santosh Shrestha picked up three wickets, while Joy Sharma and Vinay Bhandari claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Informatics’ innings collapsed cheaply as only two batsmen reached double figures.

Milan Thapa scored 21 off 23 balls hitting two boundaries, while skipper Prabin Dhakal hit 10 off 16.

Santwan Poudel and Suraj Shrestha claimed three wickets each, while Agendra Chhantyal took two wickets for Titans.

Likewise, Warriors scored 107-8 after opting to bat first. Challengers raced to victory in 16.5 overs. Warriors’ Deepak Kunwar scored 43 off 49 balls that included two each boundaries and sixes, while Kishor Chhantyal contributed 20 off 23 hitting three fours.

Challengers’ Ashim Shrestha claimed three wickets, while Suraj Gurung claimed two wickets.

In reply, Challengers’ completed the run chase after Bishwa Thapa scored 49-ball 53 not out with the help of five boundaries and a six.

Ashim Shrestha cracked three boundaries in his 40-ball 28. Sanjay Pant and Passing Pun took one wicket each for Warriors.

The results meant Machhapuchhre Lions, Downtown Pokhara, Parbat Titans, Challengers and Informatics all have six points each from two victories.

Lions are at the top of the table of the tournament on better run rate. Warriors, who have won only one match, are at the bottom with three points.
