TAAN Int’l Langtang Marathon in April

Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal is organising the second TAAN International Langtang Marathon on April 25.

The marathon is being organised with an aim of spreading the message — Langtang region is safe for trekking and tourism activities, informed TAAN General Secretary Karna Bahadur Lama.

The region was badly affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25, 2015. The marathon will begin at Kyanjin Gompa of Langtang National Park and go through Thangsyap, Ghoratabela, Rimche, Sherpa Gaun, Khangim, Bridim, Lingling before ending at Syabrubesi. The top three athletes in both categories will earn Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.

TAAN President Chandra Prasad Rijal said around 200 foreigners and local participants were expected to register for the event. “We will develop the event as a product and our target is to attract 200 foreign athletes in the next five years.”
