TAC boxers dominate selection tournament
Lalitpur, April 12
Tribhuvan Army Club boxers dominated the selection tournament organised by Nepal Boxing Association to pick up players for the 18th Asian Games to be held later this year in Indonesia.
Tej Bahadur Deuba defeated Sulav Tuladhar in the men's 49kg to earn berth in the Asiad squad, while his TAC teammate Bimal Roka outplayed Puran Rai of Nepal APF Club in 56kg weight category.
Another TAC boxer, Ek Bahadur Ghale beat Prakash Ijam in the men's 60kg section. Deepak Shrestha of TAC earned the berth as he was the lone participant in the men's 75kg section along with Bhupendra Thapa of NPC in the men's 64kg category.
In women's section, Sangita Sunar of APF defeated TAC's Sabina Shrestha in the 57kg weight category, while Punam Rawal of TAC beat APF's Saraswoti Rana Magar in 60kg section.
Similarly, Mala Rai of APF defeated Lalita Maharjan of TAC and advanced to the women's 51kg section final. Rai will face another TAC boxer Bimala Shrestha in the final on Friday.
