Trinity overcome Golden Gate
KATHMANDU: Trinity College defeated Golden Gate Academy 44-34 in the third White House U-19 National Basketball Championship here on Monday.
Trinity scored 11 and 13 while giving away only eight and 10 points in the first two quarters. Golden Gate reduced the six-point deficit to three in the third quarters by scoring nine against the six of Trinity. However, Trinity came up stroing when it mattered most, scoring 14 points while conceding just seven to Golden Gate in the fourth and final quarter to win the match by 10-point margin. Nawang Kunga Sherpa top scored with 13 points for Trinity.
In the girls' section, Xavier International eased to a comfortable 39-12 win over Trinity College. Xavier scored 12 and conceded eight points to Trinity in the opening quarter. Xavier entirely dominated the second quarter netting 13 while giving away nothing to their opponents. The third quarter saw both the team score two points each, meaning Xavier went into the deciding quarter with 17-point lead. Xavier netted 12 to that of the two of Trinity in the final quarter to record a comprehensive victory. Meanwhile, Golden Gate earned a walkover win from Kathmandu Academy.
Golfutar will take on Whitefield and Triton will face NBC in the men's section while Prime Club will meet Nag Sports Club in the girls' section match on Tuesday.
