TSC all set for President’s Cup

Three Star Club is representing Nepal in the upcoming AFC (Asian Football Confederation) President’s Cup Football Tournament to be held in Kathmandu from May 4-14. Three Star Club qualified for the tournament after winning the Martyrs’ Memorial National League last year. Other national league champions to take part in the tournament are Taiwan Power Company of Chinese Taipei, Regar TadAZg of Tajikistan, Transport United of Bhutan, Dordoi-Dynamo of Kyrgyzstan, WAPDA of Pakistan, Blue Star Sports Club of Sri Lanka, and Hello United of Cambodia. Three Star Club is in Group A along with teams from Bhutan, Tajikistan and Chinese Taipei. The other pool consists of teams from Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.
Three Star Club opens its campaign with a match against Tajikistan on May 4, while they will play against Bhutanese team on May 6 and Tajikistan on May 8. Top two teams from both the pools will advance to the semi-finals slated for May 12. The grand finale is scheduled for May 14 at Dasharath Stadium. The winner of the high-profile tournament will be richer by $50,000 while the runners-up will get $25,000. The AFC is also providing $25,000 each to all the participating clubs for the preparation. Three Star Club, which won the national league with an unbeaten record, is expected to perform well in the tournament. Mayos are the official sponsor of Three Star Club. Meanwhile, the Transport United Club of Bhutan arrived to Kathmandu today to take part in the tournament. Acting general secretary of ANFA and member Sunil Rana received the team led by Harka Singh Tamang, the head of delegates.
