KATHMANDU, JULY 29

Tashi Tshiring won the title of the Pepsi Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

In the event which was reduced to 11 holes due to rain, Tshiring finished first on count back after he was tied on 26 points with Sonam Norbu Lama. Tshiring earned 14 points on the last six holes, while Lama scored 12 and he received the runner-up trophy.

Tshiring, who carded six birdies in the bogey-free round, bagged the most birdies award. Tshiring also finished at the top in the gross section but he was not eligible to take the trophy due to one-player-one major prize rule. Wangchen Dhondup, who was second best with 24 points, received the gross category trophy.

Former Chief of the Army Staff, Gen Gaurav SJB Rana won the senior section trophy with 25 points. Aaiesteena Tandan claimed the women's category title with 21 points, while Rekha Ghimire came second with 16 points.

Jaibir Acharya was the winner among junior golfers with 25 points. Chewang Sherpa won the closest-tothe-pin award, while Tashi Chhiring Dong bagged the longest drive trophy.

A total of 100 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Varun Beverages.

Marketing Development Manager of Varun Beverages (Nepal) Pvt Ltd Dushyant Rupareliya, Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
