Tyson ties knot soon after tragedy

LAS VEGAS: Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson was married for the third time at the weekend, about a fortnight after his 4-year-old daughter died in a freak accident on a treadmill.

County marriage records in Las Vegas showed that the 42-year-old Tyson and Lakiha Spicer, 32, obtained a marriage license on Saturday, about 30 minutes before they were married in a brief, private ceremony at the La Bella Wedding Chapel at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel and casino.

A spokesperson for the chapel told BoxingScene that only Tyson and Spicer, the boxer's girlfriend, were present.

Tyson's daughter Exodus died on May 26. The girl - who was not Spicer's daughter - had been on life support since the previous day, when she got her neck caught in a cord attatched to a fitness machine in the home she shared with her mother and brother in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tyson was married twice previously - to actress Robin Givens in 1988 and to doctor Monica Turner in 1997.

His marriage to Givens ended after one year, while his marriage to Turner lasted five years.
