U-19 cricket team unveiled

The two-member selection panel of coach Binod Das and ACC Consultant Venkatapathy Raju on Sunday finalised the youth team for the ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup slated for November 11-19 in Malaysia.

Dipendra Singh Airee will lead the squad, while Rohit Kumar Paudel, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sandeep Sunar, Pranit Thapa Magar, Anil Kumar Sah, Pawan Sarraf, Mahamad Asif Sheikh, Kishor Mahato, Shahab Alam, Prakash KC, Kamal Singh Airee, Bhim Sharki, Rasid Khan and Jitendra Singh are the other members of the team. Sundeep Jora, Bikram Kumar Bhusal, Ankit Subedi and Bijay Chaudhary are in reserve players’ list.

Prakash KC, Kamal Singh Airee and Bhim Sharki made their comeback in the team, while Sundeep Jora, Bikram Kumar Bhusal, Nandan Yadav and Sumit Maharjan failed to make the cut.

However, Jora and Bhusal have been named as reserve players. The Nepali team, which is scheduled to leave for Dhaka on Monday, will play three practice matches against Bangladesh U-19 team.

A total of eight nations — Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan and a team from Western Region qualifiers — will participate in the event. The matches will be held at three venues — Kinrara Oval, Bayuemas Oval and Royal Selangor Club.
