Ummeed keeps hopes alive

Kathmandu, June 2:

Ummeed Shrestha of Bank of Kathmandu defeated Mohan Subedi of Sujal Foods in straight sets and entered the quarter-finals of the Lowenbrau third Corporate Snooker Tournament, which has been jointly organised by Annapurna Post and Hotel Shangri-La.

Shrestha had no problem in beating Subedi. He won the first frame 77-25 and registered a 80-35 win in the second before sealing the victory 94-27.

Also entering the last eight were Shital Singh of Nephil Education Consultancy, Devendra Gurung of Peregerine Adventures and Raj Kamal Basnet of Standard Chartered Bank.

Singh beat Sangam Rupacha of Outreach Nepal 42-53, 26-49, 67-51, 67-19, 62-43; Gurung defeated Sudeep Karki of The Himalayan Times 86-22, 98-36, 43-44, 78-8; and Basnet outplayed Arya B Shah of AD Factor 64-42, 52-32, 56-43.

Earlier, Shital Singh, Sudeep Karki, Ummeed Shrestha, Arya B Shah, Trishakti Rana, Tashi Gurung, Subash Shrestha, and Prabesh Hirachan won their second round matches.
