KATHMANDU: The Martyrs Memorial A Division League title race took an interesting turn on Saturday after leaders Church Boys United and third-placed Jawalakhel Youth Club faced defeats and second-placed Machhindra FC were held to a draw.

Leaders United faced a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sankata Club, thanks to a second half goal from substitute Youssef Atriss. In another match, Nepal APF Club defeated JYC 2-0 riding on goals from Armand Bedoum and Awas Lamichhane.

Likewise, two-time defending champions Machhindra needed an own goal from Yuddha Shahi for a 1-1 draw with Tribhuvan Army FC.

TAFC took an early lead through Dinesh Henjan before Shahi scored into his own net. After the day's results, United - who squandered a chance to open a fivepoint lead - remained at the top with 38 points from 22 matches, while Machhindra are second on 36.

JYC remained at the third place with 34 points, while TAFC moved to fourth with 30 points. APF climbed up to seventh with 29 points, while Sankata left the relegation zone and moved up to 10th position with 26 points.
