US Teaching Pro Aaron to conduct golf clinic at RNGC

Kathmandu, February 13:

Nepal Golf Association (NGA) is organising the golf clinic for the amateur golfers here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) from Sunday.

US Teaching Pro Aaron Bergman, who arrived here on Thursday to look after the Nepali professional golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha, will conduct the five-day clinic aimed at the skill development of the amateur golfers of the country, informed top amateur golfer Tashi Ghale, who is also the General Secretary of the NGA.

Around 20 amateur golfers are expected to participate in the clinic. “The clinic is open for all. The interested amateur golfers in the country can join the clinic. As it if free of cost, we will not charge anything to the participants,” he added. Asked about the objective of organising the clinic, Ghale said the association wanted the Nepali amateur golfers learn something from Aaron. “We are organising the clinic to help the amateur golfers hone their skills,” he said. “This is an opportunity for the Nepali golfers to get important lessons from the like of Aaron,” he added.

Aaron is primarily here to oversee Nepali sensation Shiva Ram Shrestha, who has been making headlines these days. Recently, he finished second at the Qualifying School in India. He is also leading the Surya Nepal Tour with four wins in six tournaments.

On Thursday, Aaron trained Shiva Ram for two hours, while the duo spent about 10 hours at the RNGC. According to Shiva Ram, Aaron has been focusing on his back swing, follow through and positioning. “After learning the techniques, I find it easy. I feel I have improved a lot in these two days,” said Shiva Ram.

Aaron is a teaching pro at The whippoor Will Club in New York and also teaches at the Heartland Golf Schools in different parts of the world including Bangkok, Thailand and Singapore.
