Kathmandu, May 5:

Valley Public made it to the semi-finals in both the boys and girls’ sections of the third Kwik’s Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today.

Bijay Gurung and Biraj Rana scored nine points each as Valley Public ousted Deep Jyoti 37-16 in the boy’s section while the girls’ team edged out Marsyangdi 24-8 for a place in the last four. Sujata Rai netted nine points for Valley Public.

In the other boys’ section quarter-final matches, Manjugokscha eliminated Clinton 26-20, Trungram International Academy (TIA) disposed of Arunodaya 44-19 and Mount Glory overpowered hosts Greenland 43-16.

In the girls’ event, Prithivi School sneaked past Manjugokscha 19-16 with Nisha alone contributing 12 points for the winners while Suryodaya defeated Greenland 20-13 and TIA crushed Ideal English School 21-6. Valley Public will take on Mount Glory and TIA will meet Manjugokscha in the boys’ semi-finals. Valley Public will face Prithivi and TIA are up against Suryodaya in the girls’ semi-finals on Tuesday.
