STANFORD: Venus Williams and France's Marion Bartoli meet Sunday for the title at the WTA Bank of the West Classic in a repeat of the 2007 Wimbledon final.

Third seed Williams reached her 65th career singles final Saturday with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of fourth seeded Russian Elena Dementieva. Bartoli won a roller-coaster match against Samantha Stosur 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

Venus hammered Bartoli in straight sets when they played for the All England club title two years ago.

Dementieva, winner of 13 career titles, was unable to make a lasting impression during her 64-minute thrashing at the hands of Williams, who is a five-time Wimbledon winner. Dementieva was playing at Stanford for the first time as she prepares for the US Open starting August 31.

The one-sided victory gave Williams a 31-7 record in 2009, with titles in Dubai and Acapulco.

Williams, who served up five double faults to her opponent's four, made up for the deficit with five breaks of the Russian, whose first-serve percentage finished at a low 43 percent.

"I raised by level on important points," said Williams. "Things really went well for me on court today." Dementieva now stands 42-12 on the season after January's back-to-back titles in Auckland and Sydney.

"She was just too good from the baseline," admitted Dementieva. "I was always in trouble out there." Williams's victory gave her a ninth win in 11 meetings against Dementieva and was her sixth in succession over the Russian blonde.

Bartoli started her two-hour victory with a break of Stosur in the pair's second meeting in four seasons. But Bartoli lost her way in the second set as the French Open semi-finalist from Queensland Stosur stormed back to level with a pair of breaks.

Bartoli re-established herself taking control of the third set to run out the victory despite ten aces from Stosur.

The French winner has now reached back-to-back Stanford finals at the venue where she lost to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak a year ago.
