Vijay Smarak defeat UWTC

Kathmandu, January 16:

Everest Casino beat Everest College by 73 runs and Vijay Smarak defeated United World Trade Centre (UWTC) by three wickets in the Twenty20 Open Knockout Cricket Tournament here today.

Put into to bat first after losing the toss, Everest Casino were all out for 139 in 19.1 overs. Chatur Chand top-scored with 24-ball 30 while Arun Chand and Basanta Shrestha chipped in 27 and 20 respectively. Birat Shres-tha was pick of the Everest College bowler with 4-10 from four overs while Aswin Gurung and Sisir Pandey bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Everest College were bowled out for 66 runs in 14.5 overs with Aswin and Samrit Gurung contributing 14 runs each. Man of the match Bedendra Gupta completed a five wicket (5-07) haul for Everest Casino. Shanker Thapa also claimed three and Arun Chand one wicket.

In the day’s second game, UWTC were restricted to 123 in 19.2 overs after electing to take the first strike. Naresh Buddhayer stroked 47 off 38 balls and Biswash Manandhar made 19. Raman Shrestha bagged three wickets conceding 20 runs from four overs for Vijay Smarak. Kushal Ghala and Deepak Hari also took two wickets apiece.

Vijay Smarak chased the total for the loss of seven wickets in 19.2 overs. Manjul Khadka scored unbeaten 21 off 11 balls and Pratik Jung Rana made not out 17. Man of the match Naresh Buddhayer and Abhisekh Shah took three wickets apiece for UWTC. Sabindra Joshi also claimed two wickets.

Nil David will meet Pragati Yuva Club of Birjung and Nepalgunj Cricket Club will face Nava Jagarup Club on Thursday.
