Volleyball League C’ship from Sept 2
Kathmandu, August 5 :
Dhorpatan Training Centre, in coordination with Nepal Volleyball Association, is organising the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Volleyball League Championship from September 2 in Kathmandu.
Participated by 24 teams, the tournament will be played in eight stages but the moralities of the tournament is yet to be decided. First of its kind, the tournament could last for months considering the initial format playing in the round robin method.
According to the organisers, the winners will be awarded with three points in each game and the champions will be decided by the gross total points earned throughout the eight stages. “A team can have only one SAF player on the court during a match,” said president of Dhorpatan Training Centre Manbir Chhantyal at a press meet on Saturday.
The top four teams will qualify for the third International Invitational Volleyball Tournament, he added.
The winners will be awarded with Rs 150,000 while the runners up will get Rs 75,000. Likewise, the organisers also announced cash prizes of Rs 40,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 12,000 and Rs 10,000 for the teams that finish third to the eighth position respectively.
Best player of the tournament will be awarded with a motorcycle. The estimated budget is Rs two million.
