MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says Wayne Rooney "should play more minutes" against Aston Villa on Saturday as the striker returns from injury.

Rooney has been out since mid-February with a knee injury. He made his return on Wednesday, playing the final four minutes in Man United's FA Cup win over West Ham.

Van Gaal also says Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger would likely be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
