West Indies upset Lanka
Colombo, August 6:
West Indies defeated Sri Lanka by 33 runs on Saturday in a limited-overs tri-series. Batting first the West Indies scored 226 for 7 in 50 overs and then packed Sri Lanka for 193 runs in 47 overs. Skipper Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored 57 runs, while Sylvester Joseph was run out after top-scoring with 58. Daren Powell, Dwayne Smith Omari Banks and Narsingh Deonarine took two wickets each for Windies. For Sri Lanka, Russel Arnold top-scored with 59 runs.
England-Australia Test
BIRMINGHAM: Andrew Flintoff took England to the edge of a memorable series-leveling Ashes win on Saturday by belting 73 runs and then triggering Australia’s batting collapse by taking two wickets in his first over. Australia, chasing 282, slumped to 175/8 when Michael Clarke (30) was bowled by Steve Harmison. Shane Warne was unbeaten on 20. Earlier, Warne (6-46) ended Andrew Flintoff’s gallant innings at 73, as England was bowled out for 182. Brett Lee took the other four wickets.
