WI close in on Lanka
Port of Spain, April 5:
West Indies, replying to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 278, reached 268-7 when bad light stopped play on the second day of the second Test on Friday.
Vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan led the way with 57, Sewnarine Chattergoon scored 46, Devon Smith laboured for 47, captain Chris Gayle made 45, and Dwayne Bravo got 26. Off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan captured 3-64 and Thilan Thushara took 2-72.
Earlier, Sri Lanka had been dismissed when Chamara Silva (76) was caught off Dwayne Bravo. He led a rearguard action for the Sri Lankans to help them add another 61 runs before their innings closed.
Fidel Edwards took 4-84, Daren Powell 2-59 and Jerome Taylor 2-74.
