TOKYO: Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium overpowered Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday to advance to the Japan Open final.

Wickmayer converted all five of her break point chances to dispatch the seventh-seeded Tomljanovic. Wickmayer will face Magda Linette of Poland in Sunday's final.

Linette ousted sixth-seeded Christina McHale of the US 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Linette got off to a sluggish start but seized control in the second set when she broke her opponent's serve three times. Wickmayer has three career titles, while Linette is seeking her first.
