Winning Mindset Conference begins

Kathmandu, October 18

The Winning Mindset, a National Conference on Exercise, Sports and Performance Psychology, began here at the Nepal Olympic Committee today.

Around 100 participants β€” players, coaches, managers and officials β€” from various sports disciplines are taking part in the conference organised by NOC under the aegis of Asia South-Pacific Association of Sports Psychology, International Olympic Committee and Visionary International, with the aim of empowering the 13th South Asian Games athletes, coaches, managers and all stakeholders.

Brain and Psychology coach Indra Gurung is the chief facilitator of the programme, while President of Asia South-Pacific Association of Sports Psychology Dr YoungHo Kim of South Korea and ASPASP vice-president trio Dr Frank Jing-Horng, Lu (Taiwan), Dr Kaori Araki (Japan) and Dr Naruepon Vongjaturapat (Thailand) will conduct sessions on the Winning Mindset.

Likewise, Chairperson of Akasha Wellness Rajeshwori Shrestha, Tribhuvan University Prof Ramkrishna Maharajan and Director of Antardristi Nepal Binita Adhikari are the national speakers of the programme.

Earlier, Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Sunar inaugurated the conference. National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal urged the participants to make the most out of the conference. β€œThe event is organised ahead of the 13th SA Games and it is beneficial for each and every individual involved in the regional meet,” he said.

NOC vice-president Jyoti Rana thanked all the stakeholders of the sports fraternity for helping them in organising the seminar for the benefit of athletes, while another vice-president Sunil Shrestha opined that psychological aspect was equally important to physical ability in sports.
